View from above

This is my view, looking down, every day.

I'm leaning back here, so my feet show. In my regular stance, I can't see my feet anymore.

Belly round and full of two growing babies -- photo taken at 30 weeks.

I love my belly.

I love the name Leland for a boy

Leland, pronounced lee-land. Such a great name.

It's not the name we are giving our little boy though. I don't know why, I just don't feel like my boy is a Leland. But it's a fab name.

Yes, Leland is the name of Dog the Bounty Hunter's son. And I liked it ever since I first saw that show years ago.

One of my CafeMom friends has a son named Leland, too.

Oh Leland, Otto, Nova...all on the list of names I love, but not the names of my kids.

Do I look fat with twins in my belly?

My OBGYN basically told me I am fat.

Let me clarify. I have three doctors. This doctor is my least favorite.

And she was my least favorite even before she told me I was fat.

I was in for my appointment at 29 weeks. I've gained over 30 pounds so far. When I tried to ask how much over 30, she just said over 30. Oh gee, thanks for that clarification missy!

If I'm going by my calculations on my home scale, I have gained 31 pounds.

One of the other OBs told me I should gain between 35 and 45 pounds. So that would mean I've got 14 more pounds to go on the high end of the scale. With delivery of twins early, that could be in just 6 weeks. At 2 pounds a week, I would be fine.

Another study I read online said twin mamas should gain between 37 and 54 pounds. That makes me in a good weight bracket.

This is the most recent photo taken of me. I don't think I look overweight for a pregnant woman with twins. I mean, I still fit into all my regular clothes except for my jeans that won't button. But the babies are in my belly, clearly. Not in my legs or my arms or my ass.

OK my butt did get a little bit bigger. But I do need more cushion. And yeah, my feet and hands are a bit swollen, and my boobs, well, they did go up a full cup size, but still.

I think it's bad to tell a pregnant woman she should watch her weight when she isn't tipping the scale that much. Am I supposed to cut back on what I eat? I already do make healthy choices almost all the time. I mean, I indulge here and there, but not a lot. I indulged before I was pregnant and wasn't overweight.

I say boo to her.

Diaper cakes & babies are cool

My friend/kindred spirit Priscilla lives in Ohio and she told me the other day that she wanted to send me a little something for my twins.

A week later I get this massive box. Tears were already welling in my eyes even before I opened it.

She, along with her sister and her mom, made me a diaper cake and diaper babies.

Let me first say I had no clue what a diaper cake was until recently. And I called the diaper babies "baby bundles" because I didn't know what they were either. But Priss let me in on the baby shower staple when I wrote to thank her and tell her I got the package.

The diaper cake is a layered "cake" of diapers -- and also filled with essentials and other gifts.

Diaper babies used to be a big baby shower staple -- they are made with cloth diapers and are fitted into PJs and wrapped in a blanket. Priss made me two -- one boy and one girl.

I was so touched that I cried. I would have never had a diaper cake or diaper babies at my shower because, well, I didn't know what they were, so I know my sister who is throwing my shower doesn't know either.

But now, my diaper cake is ready to be fully displayed. And I have my diaper babies resting in the cribs for now.

And to think, just a week earlier my hubs and I were stressing each other out because we weren't prepared for the twins arrival...we didn't even have one diaper in the house.

But now we do -- a whole cake of them! And if I wanted to go the cloth route I could with the diaper babies...or use them for burp cloths.

There are also a pair of fox socks in the diaper cake that I love so much. Oh and the cutest sun hat for my little girl.

I feel so lucky...for having friends who really go out of their way to do special things for me.

Can stuffed animals have sex?

OK, maybe it's me and my dirty, filthy mind. But doesn't this dinosaur look like he's getting it on with the rhinoceros?

This is an ad for Playskool.

Don't even get me started on the misspelling of school in Playskool.

I don't care if rhino likes it from behind from rhino, really. It's cool. Good for them...getting it on all plushie pre-historic style.

I just wonder if other people have a dirty mind like me.

I don't think I ever made my stuffed animals have sex when I was a kid. But Barbie...she was totally slutty in the Dream House with Ken and other Barbies, too.

Meet my twins!

Introducing their heads!

Sonogram from 29 weeks.

Baby A is my girl. Baby B, my boy.

Both head down -- yay!

It's like they are talking to each other. Plotting their way out.

I'm tired...no, really really tired

Hello third trimester.

I love you because you are bringing me closer to the time where I meet my babies.

I don't like you because you are making me so tired. So so so tired.

How do moms do it? I work full time, but don't have any kids yet. I wonder how moms who work and have a kid already do the third trimester with the second baby. Or third. Or fourth.

I just dragged my tired self away from my desk to get lunch across the street at my favorite deli called Chicken.

I got an egg salad.

They do make good chicken.

I also wanted a bowl of their Harvest Grain soup -- it's so yum. But a man kind of cut ahead of me in line, wanting the same soup. I let him go first without saying anything. Too tired to open my big mouth.

Big mistake there. He got the last bowl. Just as I asked for small bowl of Harvest Grain, the server was pouring the last of it into the man's cup. You would think this man would feel bad about cutting me then taking the last bowl of the soup I asked for. He didn't.

I waddled to the counter to pay, defeated.

I wish I could nap.

Cribs: The baby version

I got my cribs!

I wanted simple.

White.

No frills.

Did I mention simple?

We got the Gulliver cribs from IKEA. Highly rated in the Baby Bargains book -- a must read by the way.

It's a start.

It's all quiet in the nursery now. But in a couple of months, it will be the most lively room in the house.

A day just for preggos: Pickle Day!

I love pickles. Always have, but they have to be the half sour kind. You know, the kind that tastes most like a cucumber.

I would eat one right now and it's still morning.

Do pregnant women crave pickles more when pregnant?

Maybe.

I crave lots of things. I just need to think about it and I will crave it.

Mention pasta. I want pasta.

Talk about cupcakes. I want a cupcake. Or two.

So of course I have to go to this pickle festival on Sunday. And drag my hubs, who hates pickles.

I don't feel bad. I've been a good sport for him and sat in sports bars so he can watch his New Orleans Saints play. This Sunday we just have to get home in time to see the Saints vs. The Jets. He can watch the game in our house since they are playing a NY team.

But first, I get my pickle on.

Sunday, October 4th
