Diaper cakes & babies are cool

My friend/kindred spirit Priscilla lives in Ohio and she told me the other day that she wanted to send me a little something for my twins.

A week later I get this massive box. Tears were already welling in my eyes even before I opened it.

She, along with her sister and her mom, made me a diaper cake and diaper babies.

Let me first say I had no clue what a diaper cake was until recently. And I called the diaper babies "baby bundles" because I didn't know what they were either. But Priss let me in on the baby shower staple when I wrote to thank her and tell her I got the package.

The diaper cake is a layered "cake" of diapers -- and also filled with essentials and other gifts.





Diaper babies used to be a big baby shower staple -- they are made with cloth diapers and are fitted into PJs and wrapped in a blanket. Priss made me two -- one boy and one girl.

I was so touched that I cried. I would have never had a diaper cake or diaper babies at my shower because, well, I didn't know what they were, so I know my sister who is throwing my shower doesn't know either.

But now, my diaper cake is ready to be fully displayed. And I have my diaper babies resting in the cribs for now.

And to think, just a week earlier my hubs and I were stressing each other out because we weren't prepared for the twins arrival...we didn't even have one diaper in the house.

But now we do -- a whole cake of them! And if I wanted to go the cloth route I could with the diaper babies...or use them for burp cloths.

There are also a pair of fox socks in the diaper cake that I love so much. Oh and the cutest sun hat for my little girl.

I feel so lucky...for having friends who really go out of their way to do special things for me.
